Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has praised Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, who voluntarily submitted his resignation.
“He is a gentleman and a qualified person. I believe we can utilise him in various roles in different places,” the minister said.
The remarks came during an interaction with journalists at his residence on Minto Road in the capital on Saturday (March 14) night. Journalists from the Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh (ERAB), an organisation of education beat reporters, attended the discussion arranged by the minister.
Regarding the resignation of the Dhaka University vice-chancellor, the minister said, “I have received his resignation letter, but I have not accepted it yet. I have only taken the application, and he has not yet been informed whether it has been finally accepted. The matter will remain open until I make a final decision.”
Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan submitted his resignation on February 22 and formally handed the letter to the Education Minister, who also bid him farewell with a bouquet at the time.
