The government has withdrawn the rationing system for fuel sales. From Sunday (15 March) onwards, until further notice, all filling stations across the country will supply and sell fuel normally, based on customer demand.
Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat on Sunday, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit warned that anyone found hoarding fuel during this period will face strict action.
The minister explained that supply chain disruptions caused by the Iran-Israel conflict had prompted the government to take several measures to address the fuel shortage. Several imported fuel ships have already arrived at Chittagong port. Considering the smooth conduct of Eid travel and the needs of farmers during the Boro season, the government decided to lift all restrictions, including rationing, on fuel distribution.
“Fuel distribution will continue at all outlets according to consumer demand until further notice. If I observe any negligence or irresponsibility in implementing this decision, administrative action will be taken against those involved,” the minister added.
