Govt appoints administrators to 42 district councils

The government has appointed new administrators to 42 District Councils of Bangladesh in a move aimed at strengthening local government institutions and accelerating development activities across the country.

The appointments were made on Sunday, March 15, according to the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony, who confirmed the decision.

Officials said the step is expected to make the administrative activities of district councils more dynamic and effective, while enhancing coordination between local government bodies and the central administration.

According to the announcement, Mohammad Touhidul Islam has been appointed administrator of Panchagarh District, while Mofazzal Hossain Dulal will serve in Dinajpur District and Mohammad Saiful Islam in Rangpur District. Md Sohel Hossain Kaikobad has been named administrator for Kurigram District, and Prof Dr Syed Mainul Hasan Sadiq for Gaibandha District.

Md Masud Rana Pradhan will serve in Joypurhat District, while AKM Ahasanul Tayyab Zakir has been appointed for Bogra District. Md Harunur Rashid will take charge in Chapainawabganj District, Md Abu Bakkar Siddique in Naogaon District, Md Ershad Ali in Rajshahi District, and Md Rahim Newaz in Natore District.

Md Javed Masud has been appointed for Meherpur District, Sohrab Uddin for Kushtia District, Md Abul Majid for Jhenaidah District, and Delwar Hossain Khan Khokon for Jessore District. Ali Ahmed will serve in Magura District, while Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain has been appointed for Bagerhat District and SM Monirul Hasan (Bappi) for Khulna District.

In the coastal region, Snehangshu Sarkar has been appointed for Patuakhali District, Golam Nabi Alamgir for Bhola District, Akon Quddusor Rahman for Barishal District, Md Shahadat Hossain for Jhalakati District, and Alamgir Hossain for Pirojpur District.

SM Obaidul Haque has been appointed administrator for Tangail District, ABM Mamunur Rashid for Sherpur District, Syed Emran Saleh for Mymensingh District, Md Nuruzzaman (Ed) for Netrakona District, and Khaled Saifullah Sohel Khan for Kishoreganj District.

AKM Iradat has been named administrator for Munshiganj District, Md. Mamun Mahmud for Narayanganj District, Abdus Salam Mia for Rajbari District, and Sharif Rafiq Uzzaman for Gopalganj District. Khondaker Mashukur Rahman will serve in Madaripur District, while Sardar AKM Nasir Uddin has been appointed for Shariatpur District.

In the northeastern region, Md Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury has been appointed administrator for Sunamganj District, Abul Kaher Chowdhury for Sylhet District, and Mizanur Rahman for Moulvibazar District.

Finally, Sirajul Islam will serve in Brahmanbaria District, Md Mostak Mia in Cumilla District, Md Harunur Rashid Azad in Noakhali District, Sahab Uddin in Lakshmipur District, and ATM Nurul Bashar Chowdhury in Cox's Bazar District.

Officials said the appointments are part of a broader government effort to strengthen grassroots administration and ensure faster implementation of development initiatives through local government bodies.
