Professor Dr SMA Faiz, the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, has resigned from his position.
He submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Education on Monday morning.
The Ministry of Education and the UGC sources confirmed the matter to Jago News.
A former Professor of Dhaka University's Soil, Water and Environment department, Professor Faiz served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka from September 2002 till January 2009.
Later, he also served as the chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission.
