Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Thursday evening, marking his first official meeting with the head of state since assuming office.
The prime minister arrived at the presidential residence at around 6:10 pm, accompanied by his daughter, Barrister Zaimah Rahman. The president was joined by his spouse, Professor Rebecca Sultana, during the meeting.
Officials said the meeting began with an exchange of greetings between the two leaders. However, no details of the discussions were immediately disclosed.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister inaugurated an Independence Day friendly football match at the National Stadium in Dhaka. After briefly attending the event, he proceeded to Bangabhaban.
