Gold prices fall by Tk 6,590 per bhori

Gold prices in the country have been reduced, with the price of 22-carat gold falling by Tk 6,590 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 234,855.

The price revision was announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) following a decline in the local market price of pure gold (tejabi sona).

The revised rates, however, came into effect from 10:00 am on Friday, March 27, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

A press release, signed by BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, was issued in this regard in the morning.

With this latest cut, gold prices have fallen for the seventh consecutive time, bringing the total reduction to Tk 35,575 per bhori over the period. Earlier, on March 25, the price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 5,482 per bhori.

Under the new rates, 21-carat gold is priced at Tk 224,182 per bhori after a reduction of Tk 6,299, while 18-carat gold has dropped by Tk 5,366 to Tk 192,164. Traditional gold (sanatan method) is now priced at Tk 156,473 per bhori, down by Tk 4,432.

Despite the downward trend in gold prices, silver rates remain unchanged. BAJUS has set the price of 22-carat silver at Tk 5,365 per bhori, while 21-carat silver stands at Tk 5,132. The prices of 18-carat and traditional silver remain at Tk 4,432 and Tk 3,324 per bhori, respectively.
