HSIA cancels 797 Middle East flights in a month

The authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) have cancelled 797 flights bound for the Middle East routes, with 22 more flights scrapped on Friday, March 27, due to ongoing regional tensions.

The flights were cancelled from February 28 to March 27, causing suffering to thousands of passengers.

Sources in the HSIA said Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan temporarily closed their airspace from February 28 amid security risks after the US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which directly affected the Dhaka airport.

Flights cancelled today include four of Kuwait, six of Air Arabia (Sharjah, UAE), two of Gulf Air (Bahrain), four of Qatar Airways (Qatar), two of Emirates Airlines (UAE) and four of Jazeera Airways (Kuwait).
