A compartment of the Dolonchapa Express derailed at Setabganj Railway Station in Bochaganj upazila on Sunday morning.
No casualties, however, so far been reported in this connection.
According to local sources, the incident occurred at around 8:13 am when the Panchagarh-to-Santahar bound train entered track number one at Setabganj station. Two wheels of compartment ‘G’ came off the rails during the maneuver.
Confirming the matter, Setabganj station master Majnur Rahman said that train movement on the alternate track (line number two) remained normal, ensuring uninterrupted rail services at the station.
The derailed coach would be detached to allow the rest of the train to continue its journey toward Santahar, minimising inconvenience to passengers, he said, adding that the rescue operations are underway.
