Bangladesh and Russia have held high-level consultations to explore enhanced military and technical cooperation.
Russian Ambassador Alexander Khozin and Military, Air and Naval Attaché Colonel Pavel Ivashinnikov met with Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, Principal Staff Officer of Bangladesh's Armed Forces Division, on Tuesday.
According to the Russian Embassy in Dhaka, discussions covered current and prospective areas of collaboration, including efforts to expand the legal framework governing bilateral military cooperation.
While no specific agreements were announced, both sides expressed readiness to pursue tailored cooperation packages encompassing training, logistical support and potential technology transfer, subject to mutual agreement and international compliance.
The talks reflect Bangladesh's pragmatic, diversified approach to defence partnerships, balancing engagements with multiple suppliers while prioritising capabilities aligned with national security requirements.
