Maldives keen to recruit healthcare workers from Bangladesh

The Maldives has expressed interest in recruiting healthcare workers from Bangladesh. The matter was conveyed by Maldives High Commissioner to Dhaka, Shiuneen Rasheed, during a courtesy meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed on Wednesday (April 1).

During the meeting, both sides emphasised strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including trade, health, education, and connectivity. They also discussed exploring the vast untapped potential between the two countries.

The state minister stressed the importance of enhancing engagement between the business communities of both nations. She expressed sincere gratitude to the Maldivian government for providing employment opportunities to Bangladeshi workers and requested consideration for recruiting more skilled and semi-skilled manpower.

At the meeting, the high commissioner reiterated the Maldives’ interest in hiring healthcare professionals from Bangladesh. She also praised the contributions of Bangladeshi expatriates to the socio-economic development of the Maldives.

Meanwhile, the state minister thanked the Maldivian government for its continued support on the Rohingya issue. She reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to revitalising SAARC, and both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening regional cooperation.
