Iran fires fresh missile barrage at Israel as Trump claims war nearing end

Iran launched a new wave of missile attacks on Israel, intensifying the conflict just hours after US President Donald Trump claimed that Washington is close to achieving its war objectives and has effectively “destroyed” Iran’s military capabilities.

In a national address, Trump also claimed that Tehran had sought a ceasefire – an assertion swiftly rejected by Iranian authorities.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, meanwhile, struck a more conciliatory tone, telling the American public that Iran holds no hostility toward the people of the United States, Europe, or neighbouring countries, despite the escalating hostilities.

Strikes intensify across the region

US-Israeli forces continued coordinated strikes on Iranian territory, with reports of at least nine killed in Larestan and Mianeh in recent hours. The airports and port facilities sustained significant damage in the attack, according to local sources.

The conflict has increasingly spilled out beyond the immediate warzone. In Kuwait, firefighters battled a major blaze at fuel storage tanks at the country’s main airport following what officials described as a suspected Iranian strike.

Authorities in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates also reported intercepting incoming missiles and drones, underscoring the widening regional fallout.

Sirens in northern Israel

Air raid sirens sounded across northern Israel after the Israeli military warned of incoming Iranian missiles. In back-to-back statements, the military confirmed launches from Iranian territory.

Local broadcaster Channel 12 reported that the widespread alarms were triggered, with at least one missile believed to carry a fragmentation warhead, raising concerns over potential casualties.
