Hanzala seeks probe into calling him 'militant MP' on parliament premises

Sayed Uddin Ahmad Hanzala, an opposition lawmaker from the Madaripur-1 constituency, has demanded an investigation into the incident of calling him 'a militant MP' on Parliament premises recently.

He demanded this to the Speaker, Major (retd) Hafij Uddin Ahmad on the seventh day of the 13th Parliament's first session on Thursday, April 2.

Expressing his anger at the issue, Hanzala said the Prophet's sunnah and clothing cannot be the symbol of militants, he said.

"On March 30, when I was entering the House through South Plaza, someone was addressing me – that militant MP is going. I think that calling an incumbent MP militant has defamed the Jatiya Sangsad," he said.

"I think the person might have called me militant because I had a Turban on my head and wore white cloth. Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) Sunnah and this dress cannot be the symbol of militants," Hanzala added.

The Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish MP also urged the Speaker to direct the home minister to identify the individual who called him a militant.

In response, the Speaker said, "This is very sad. I request you to give a notice, and we will consider this."
