Three people were killed and at least 12-15 others injured after a bus crashed into a road divider and an overbridge in Sirajganj on Friday, April 3.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir Alam, 50, the bus driver and a resident of Gohail village under Shajahanpur upazila, Rakhi Begum, wife of Monirul Islam of Sameshpur in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj, and Rakibul Islam Rocket, 32, from Srirampur in Naogaon's Badalgachi upazila.
The incident occurred in Nalka area on the western end of the Jamuna Bridge around 11:15 am.
The 'Bushra Paribahan' bus crashed into the road divider, and the overbridge after a tyre of the vehicle suddenly burst, leaving two individuals, including the driver, dead on the spot and 12 to 15 others injured, Jamuna Bridge West police station's sub-inspector Bithi Khatun told Jago News.
Among the injured, another passed away on the way to the hospital, she said, adding that the wounded are now receiving treatment at Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical and Hospital, Sirajganj.
