Audio glitch halts JS again, session adjourned for 40 minutes

The Jatiya Sangsad session was adjourned for 40 minutes on Sunday after a malfunction in the sound system disrupted proceedings.

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed announced the adjournment when it became clear that the audio system was not functioning, making it difficult for members to hear speeches inside the House.

The disruption occurred after the session resumed following the Asr prayer break.

Two bills were passed at the outset, after which Chief Whip Nurul Islam began speaking, noting the presence of a group of July fighters in the VIP gallery.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and treasury bench members welcomed them by thumping desks.

However, the Chief Whip’s speech could not be clearly heard due to the faulty sound system.

Opposition members later sought to speak, but the technical issue persisted.

The Speaker then informed the House that even his own microphone was not working properly and he was unable to hear proceedings.

He subsequently adjourned the session at around 5:55 pm, allocating 20 minutes for Maghrib prayers and another 20 minutes to fix the sound system before resuming the sitting.
