After four consecutive increases, the price of gold in the country has been reduced, with the highest-quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) dropping by Tk 2,158, bringing the price of one bhori to Tk 245,819.
According to the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS), the price revision follows a decrease in local market rates for refined gold. The new rates took effect from 10:00 am on Monday, April 6.
BAJUS’ Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring held a meeting on Monday morning and decided on the reduction. The announcement was later made official through a notice signed by the committee chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.
Previously, on April 1, the price of high-quality gold per bhori was increased by Tk 3,266. Before that, there were three other consecutive hikes. After a total increase of Tk 13,122 over four consecutive sessions, the prices have now been slightly reduced.
The new rates for gold per bhori are Tk 245,819 for 22-carat, Tk 234,621 for 21-carat, Tk 201,146 for 18-carat, and Tk 163,821 for traditional gold.
