In a dramatic shake-up of Bangladesh cricket, the National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday dissolved the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) board led by Aminul Islam Bulbul and installed a new convening committee headed by former national captain Tamim Iqbal.
The sudden move comes just a day after reports surfaced about an imminent overhaul of the board, signalling swift action by the National Sports Council, the governing body overseeing sports in the country.
The announcement was made at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon by NSC Director (Sports) Aminul Ehsan, confirming the formation of an 11-member committee that will now run the affairs of the BCB.
The newly formed body features several prominent names in Bangladesh cricket, including former national stars Minhajul Abedin Nannu and Atahar Ali Khan.
Other members of the committee are Rashna Imam, Mirza Yasir Abbas, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, Israfil Khasru, Tanzim Chowdhury, Salman Ispahani, Rafiqul Islam Babu and Fahim Sinha.
Tamim’s appointment at the helm marks a significant turning point, with the former opener now stepping into a powerful administrative role at a time of major transition in Bangladesh cricket.
The convening committee is expected to oversee key decisions and stabilise the board following the abrupt dissolution, though further details about its tenure and mandate are yet to be disclosed.
