Gold prices in the country have fallen, with the highest-quality 22-carat gold dropping by Tk 4,432 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 247,977 per bhori. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said the reduction follows a decline in local refined gold prices. The new rates came into effect from 10:00 am on Thursday, 9 April.
The price cut was decided during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. A notice signed by the committee chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, confirmed the update.
Earlier, the price of high-quality gold had increased by Tk 6,590 per bhori on Wednesday. On 6 April, it was reduced by Tk 2,158, while four consecutive increases prior to that had raised the price by Tk 13,122 per bhori.
Following the latest adjustment, 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 4,432 to Tk 247,977 per bhori, 21-carat gold by Tk 4,199 to Tk 236,721 per bhori, 18-carat gold by Tk 3,616 to Tk 202,895 per bhori, and traditional gold by Tk 2,916 to Tk 165,289 per bhori.
