Australian Speaker-led delegation watches JS in action

A visiting Australian parliamentary delegation, led by Milton Dick, on Thursday observed the ongoing session of Bangladesh’s Jatiya Sangsad, witnessing firsthand the country’s legislative proceedings.

The 13-member delegation, headed by the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, was present in the visitors’ gallery during the afternoon sitting.

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed formally informed the House about the distinguished guests and extended a warm welcome on behalf of all lawmakers.

“I am pleased to inform the House that a 13-member parliamentary delegation from Australia, led by the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, Milton Dick MP, is here and observing today’s ongoing session,” he said.

Following the announcement, Members of Parliament greeted the delegation with applause, reflecting the cordial ties between the two countries.

Despite the high-profile visit, parliamentary business continued uninterrupted. Lawmakers carried on with debates and passed several bills, offering the Australian delegation a live glimpse into Bangladesh’s legislative process in action.
