A man has allegedly killed his mother in Khulna's Rupsha upazila on Friday morning, April 10, over a family dispute.
The dead was identified as Mimmi Begum, 44, the wife of Hamidul Islam, a resident of Khan Mohammadpur village under Aichgati union in the upazila.
Locals and police said the accused, Nadim Islam, hit his mother's head with a tree branch at one stage of a quarrel with her over a family conflict around 8:00 am, leaving her dead on the spot.
Being informed, police personnel went to the scene and detained Nadim, Aichgati police camp's in-charge Md Ujjal Hossain said, adding that legal measures are underway over the incident.
