A dacoit was killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Ruhiterpar area of 7 no. ward under Bakerganj Upazila in Barisal on Monday at 1am.The dead man is Md. Khokon, son of Jobed Khan, of Moheshpur area of the upazila.Khokon was accused in 15 cases including murder and robbery. He was the member of inter-district dacoit gang, it is learnt.Harun-Or-Rahsid, Officer-in-charge of Bakerganj Police Station, members of police went to recover arms along with Khokon at Ruhiterpar area. Sensing presence of police, Khokon’s cohorts opened fired, forcing them to retaliate triggering a gunfight.At that time Khokon was injured and died at Upazila Health Complex. Police also recovered a pipe gun, a shutter gun, 9 round bullets and a machete from the spot.
