HC stays mark deduction for 2nd time medical aspirants
The High Court (HC) on Tuesday stayed a government decision to deduct five marks from the total obtained by second time admission seekers in medical and dental colleges.
A High Court vacation bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain passed the order asking authorities concerned to explain within four weeks why it should not declare government's decision illegal.
The court also asked five officials, including health secretary, director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGSH), and vice chancellor of Dhaka University, to submit their explanations within the stipulated time.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed a writ petition in this regard on August 27 and today took part in the hearing on the matter as well.
