34 more die from coronavirus in Bangladesh
The deaths related to the novel coronavirus reached 3,591 in Bangladesh on Friday as the country recorded 34 more fatalities from the virus in the past 24 hours.
During the period, 2,766 people newly caught the deadly virus, taking the country's tally to 2,71,881, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
The press statement said 12,856 samples were tested in the past day. With this, the number of total sample tests stood at 13,28,757.
However, 1,752 more COVID-19 patients made recovery, bringing the total recovery to 1,56,623.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.
As of Saturday, the epidemic infected 21,095,532 people and killed 757,779 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 13,946,466 across the world.
