BPL to be renamed after ‘Bangabandhu BPL’

The upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be renamed after ‘Bangabandhu BPL’.

BCB President Nazmul Hassan made the announcement during a press briefing at the BCB’s management office in Mirpur on Wednesday.

There will be no franchisee in the seventh edition of the T20 tournament, the BCB boss said.

The BCB’s contract with the franchisees had expired. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Dec 6, he said.

“BCB will be sponsoring all the expenses of the tournaments which will begin at the scheduled time with seven teams,” said Papon.

The BCB president said: “The reason behind naming BPL after Bangabandhu is because you all know that next year is his 100th birthday.”

The BPL is scheduled to start on Dec 3 and the matches are scheduled to kick-off on Dec 6.
