Nur out of danger: DMCH director

Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur is now fully out of danger, and his physical condition is improving rapidly, said Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

"Physical condition of Nur is improving rapidly and his treatment is possible in the country. However, his family will decide whether he will go abroad for follow-up care," he said while talking to reporters at the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, September 3.

Nur sustained four major injuries—fractures in the nasal and jaw bones, injuries in his eyes and brain hemorrhage.

Nur is being treated under the supervision of a six-member medical board and the doctors are closely monitoring his overall condition, the DMCH director said on Sunday.

A series of clashes broke out between the activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) and Jatiya Party (JaPa) in front of the latter party's central office in Dhaka on Friday night.

As tensions escalated, the police and army personnel charged batons, leaving GOP President Nur and several others injured.

Members of the army and police were seen in a video circulated on social media platforms mercilessly beating up Nur and others.
