Customers accuse Daraz of cheating

Several allegations were raised against daraz.com.bd, an online shopping site of the country, that they didn’t pay money to the customers at the right time after refunding products.
Customers are facing many problems regularly from the representatives of Daraz customer care.
Mansur Shovon, a customer of Daraz, has ordered a mobile phone charger from the site on January 30 this year. He got the charger on February 4 and saw that the charger was duplicate as well as it was made in Bangladesh.
He informed the matter to Daraz call centre. The authority brought back the cable on the following day. They assured him (Shovon) to return his money within seven days. But he didn’t get the money on time.
After six months later concerned authorities refunded his money through bkash.
Mansur Shovon said to Jago News that he wants to lodge a case with Consumer Rights Protection Department.
“This type of cheating activity is unfair and not accepted,” he added.
Besides this incident, many shoppers have also submitted their allegations to consumer rights protection department for their forgery activities such as sold drawback and duplicate products and canceled order suddenly.
Daraz assured that they delivered their products to customers from 3 to 10 days. But the customers alleged that they repealed the order without any notice after passing 10-12 days.
Sayontoni Tisha, Manager, Public Relations and Communications of Daraz, told Jago News that their courier service got the product from the customer (Mansur Shovon) in February 5 or 6.
“We found it on March 13 and send him money within two days via bKash,” she added.
Terming Daraz as an irresponsible online shopping site Fahad Islam said that he ordered a product on March 22. After 12 days later, he got a message from the company that the product was out of stock.
“How are they doing business in the country?” he questioned.
Soumya Raihan alleged that he couldn’t get product after ordering several times. He didn’t get any feedback from Daraz authorities.
Regarding these allegations, Trisha, spokesperson of Daraz said that they moved their warehouse from small to big place so that many order was submitted and product delivery was delayed.
It is mentionable that the company has no warehouse, according to its website.
Daraz delivered their products to the specific customers after getting their order so that the process was delayed, it also mentioned.
About the allegations against Daraz, Razib Ahmed, President, E-commerce Association of Bangladesh told Jago News that the organization (E-cab) basically work with the companies, who have involved with Online business in the country.
“We will send a show cause notice to Daraz,” he said, adding that we will take a strict action against it if the allegation proves.
Abdul Zabbar Khan, Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Protection Department said that customers can submit their allegations to the department if they will be victimized by any person or business organization.
“If they finds guilty, we will take action against them as per law,” he added.
