BNP won’t suggest any name to search committee: Fakhrul

BNP will not suggest any name to the search committee for the posts of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and other Election Commissioners (ECs).

The party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this after visiting ailing Natore Gurudaspur Upazila BNP President Abdul Aziz at BRB Hospital in the capital’s Panthapath on Monday morning. 

“Those who are in the search committee are involved with the politics of Awami League,” he said. 

Mirza Fakhrul said, BNP has no any interest or expectation about the search committee.

BNP’s Organizing Secretary Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu and the party Chairperson’s Press Wing member Shayrul Kabir Khan were present among others during this time. 

It is to be noted that, the search committee, which will suggests names for the appointments of the CEC’s and other ECs, was formed on Saturday.

In the direction of President M Abdul Hamid, the Cabinet Division formed the six-member committee.
