Police, BNP clash in Dhaka, road march foiled

The road march program of BNP in Dhaka was foiled as police and the party men clashed in Science Lab area in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses said the clash ensued when the march program of BNP reached in front of Dhaka City College around 4 pm.

Police detained the party's executive committee member Sheikh Rabiul Alam and several other leaders and activists during the clash.

Earlier around 2 pm, BNP's Dhaka South City unit started the road march in front of Bangladesh Medical College, Dhanmondi.

It was supposed to end at in front of Kataban Mosque through Satmasjid Road, Rifles Square, Dhaka City College, Science Lab and Bata Signal but was foiled in front of Dhaka City College.

However, the BNP leaders and leaders vandalized several BRTC buses and police box at Dhanmondi Road No. 3 crossing.

The party, however, holds the program protesting the sub-ordinate courts and the government's negligence to the order of the High Court, indiscriminately arrests in fictitious cases, filing of false cases, police harassment, commodity prices hike, load shedding and the government's corruption.
