Uttara-Agargaon metro rail operation resumes

Dhaka Metro Rail services resumed from Uttara to Agargaon on Sunday afternoon, October 26, after around two and half an hours' suspension following the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a bearing pad that fell from the metro rail line.

The metro rail operation of this section restarted around 3:00pm, the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), which operates the metro rail, said in a notice at about 3:45pm.

Work is underway for the resumption of the metro rail services from Agargaon to Motijheel, the notice said.

The DMTCL, however, in a Facebook post around 2:10pm cited technical glitches for the suspension of the services.

Earlier at about 12:20pm, a pedestrian died on the spot after a bearing pad of the metro rail line fell on him beneath the Farmgate Metro Station. The victim, identified as Abul Kalam, hailed from Naria in Shariatpur.

After the incident, the metro rail services were suspended.
