A pedestrian was killed after a bearing pad fell from a metro rail pillar at its Farmgate station in Dhaka on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 12:20 pm beneath the station. The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, a resident of Naria in Shariatpur,
Eyewitnesses said the man was walking along the footpath when, during the movement of a metro train, a bearing pad suddenly fell from above and struck his head. He died on the spot.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Tejgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector Shahiduzzaman said, “We were on duty nearby. Upon receiving the news, we rushed to the spot and found a man lying dead.”
