NBR may extend tax return submission deadline again

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is likely to extend the income tax return submission deadline for individual taxpayers by another month, considering various issues, including the electioneering for the 13th parliamentary election and referendum.

The deadline, scheduled to end on January 31, might be extended till February 28, and a notice in this regard will be issued soon, an NBR source confirmed on Wednesday, January 28.

Earlier, the NBR extended the income tax submission deadline in two phases.

Officials and employees are busy at the government and individual levels on the occasion of the national elections and referendum, and that is why the deadline might be extended by another month so that taxpayers can submit their returns correctly, said an NBR official who declined to be named.
