Priyanka urges ‘space and privacy’ after husband Rahul’s tragic death

Following the shocking death of Indian Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, his wife, actress Priyanka Sarkar, has issued a public statement urging people to respect the family’s privacy. The 43-year-old actor died after drowning in the sea at Talsari Beach in Odisha while shooting for a television project.

“This is a time of immense grief and deep despair for us. In this difficult moment, we sincerely request space and privacy. There is a child, a mother, a family, and loved ones trying to navigate this loss together,” Priyanka wrote on her Instagram account on Sunday night.

She added, “We kindly urge our friends and colleagues in the media to respect our boundaries, refrain from intrusion, and allow us the dignity to grieve in peace.”

She concluded, “Your understanding and support mean more than ever at this time.”

Rahul Banerjee rose to stardom for his role opposite Priyanka Sarkar in Chirodini Tumi Je Amar, directed by Raj Chakraborty. The film was a massive box-office success. He later appeared in films such as Love Circus and Shono Mon Boli Tomay and made his television debut with the series Tumi Asbe Bole. He received several awards, including the Anandalok Award for Best Actor for his performance in Chirodini Tumi Je Amar (2008).
