NU admission test results published
The results of admission into first-year honours courses under the National University (NU) for the 2024–25 academic session have been published.
Vice-Chancellor of the National University, Professor Dr ASM Amanullah, announced the results at a press conference held on Thursday (June 26) at the university’s ICT building in Gazipur.
During the briefing, the Vice-Chancellor stated that a total of 560,595 candidates appeared in this year’s admission test. Among them, 460,706 have passed. Of the successful candidates, 33.28% scored above 50 marks, while 66.72% scored below 50.
He also noted that the National University has a total of 440,000 seats. Those who fail to secure admission into honours courses will have the opportunity to enroll in pass courses, technical courses, and other streams.
Amanullah further stated that, in the past, students were admitted into honours courses without an admission test, which often led to criticism that NU students gained university admission without evaluation. “From now on, no one can say that National University students get admitted without a test,” he said, adding that students are being enrolled through an admission test for the first time in ten years.
The press conference was attended by the university’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, Treasurer, Registrar, deans of various faculties, and other senior officials.

The admission test was held on May 31 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at 879 centres across all 64 district towns. Over 560,000 candidates took part in the test.
It is worth noting that until the 2014–15 academic session, students were admitted to the National University through admission tests. However, from the 2015–16 session, admissions to affiliated colleges were based solely on SSC and HSC GPA scores. After eight years, the system has now been revised, reintroducing the competitive test for admission.
