10th grade pay scale for primary head teachers approved

The Finance Division has given final approval to upgrade the pay scale of 65,502 head teachers of government primary schools to the 10th grade.

A letter regarding the approval was sent to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Monday (November 10) by the Implementation Wing of the Finance Division. The letter was signed by Md Mahbubul Alam, Senior Assistant Secretary of the division.

According to the letter, based on the consent of the Ministry of Public Administration and the Expenditure Management Wing of the Finance Division, approval has been granted for the proposal from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education to upgrade the existing 11th-grade pay scale to the 10th grade for 65,502 head teachers of government primary schools.

Under the new pay structure, head teachers’ basic salaries will range from Tk 16,000 to Tk 38,640 (Grade-10), up from Tk 12,500 to Tk 30,230 (Grade-11) previously. The positions will be filled in accordance with the Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules, 2025.

The directive from the Finance Division states that, to implement the upgraded pay scale, the terms and conditions outlined in the Ministry of Public Administration’s circular issued on October 7 and the Expenditure Management Wing’s conditions set on July 28 must be followed.

In addition, the administrative ministry has been instructed to issue a sanction order (G.O.) and have it endorsed by the Expenditure Management Wing. The letter also directed that all necessary formalities and existing regulations be properly observed.
