Govt secondary school teachers suspend work stoppage
The assistant teachers of government secondary schools have suspended their work stoppage called to press home their four-point demands. The announcement came in a statement issued by the Bangladesh Government Secondary Assistant Teachers’ Association on Tuesday night (2 December).
The statement said that the work stoppage has been temporarily suspended in the interest of students, and a decision has been made to conduct the annual examinations. As a result, assistant teachers will participate in annual examination activities at government secondary schools starting Wednesday (3 December).
According to the statement, the association decided to suspend the work stoppage temporarily, considering that the academic activities of students should not be disrupted. The annual examinations are extremely important for students’ academic progress. Acknowledging the mental pressure faced by students and parents due to uncertainty over the exams, the decision has been made—out of a sense of responsibility—to return to academic duties.
The statement further said that protecting the future of students and restoring normalcy to their academic life are among their key responsibilities. Therefore, all concerned have been urged to extend their cooperation to ensure the smooth completion of the annual examinations beginning 3 December.
