President Donald Trump has approved plans for a possible military strike on Iran but has not yet made a final decision on whether to proceed, according to a report by CBS News, the BBC’s US partner.

Citing a senior intelligence source, CBS reported that Trump held off on initiating strikes to give Iran an opportunity to abandon its nuclear program. The president is reportedly considering a US strike on Fordo, an underground uranium enrichment facility in Iran.

The development follows heightened tensions, as Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday rejected Trump’s demand for unconditional surrender. Trump, who stated that his “patience had run out,” remained noncommittal when asked about US involvement in Iran, saying, “I may do it, I may not do it.”

The situation remains fluid, with no further details on the timeline or scope of the potential strike. Meanwhile, international efforts to de-escalate tensions continue, with European diplomats scheduled to meet Iranian officials in Geneva on Friday to discuss diplomatic solutions.
