Mymensingh becomes 12th city corporation

The National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reorganisation (NICAR) approved a proposal to recognize Mymensingh as the 12th city corporation in the country.

The recognition came at a meeting of National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reform (Nicar), at Prime Minister’s Office, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.

Mymensingh was declared the eighth administrative division of the country in 2015.

It consists of four districts—Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur and Netrakona.

In August, a new education board, the 11th in the country, was formed to monitor secondary and higher secondary level institutions in the districts under the division.
