Bangladesh records 5 Covid deaths in 24 hrs

Five people died from coronavirus and 257 contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 29,105 and 19,49,055 respectively, a health directorate press release on Friday.

As many as 13,860 samples were collected and 13,801 tested in the past day.

During the period, 2,399 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 18,57,648.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 453,961,764 people and killed 6,052,852 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 388,248,430 across the world.
