A Bangladeshi student remained missing after a devastating earthquake in Turkey that killed 3,419 people by Tuesday morning (local time).

The missing student, Golam Sayeed Rinku, is the son of Golam Rabbani, a resident of Denai village under Gabtali Police Station in Bogura. He is a student at a university in the Southern region of Turkey.

Bangladesh Embassy in Ankara confirmed the matter to Jago News on Tuesday.

Rinku's father contacted the embassy and informed it about his going missing, an official of the mission said, adding that they were trying to look for him.

Golam Rabbani told Jago News he found his son's mobile number switched off since the earthquake in Turkey and the people familiar with him there could not say anything about his whereabouts.

"I want prayers from everyone, may Allah keep my son safe," he said.

Former assistant professor at Jagannath University Nazmus Shakib, who is now a PhD student at a university in Ankara, also informed about Rinku's going missing in a Facebook post this afternoon.
