Bornita wins LUX Superstar 2025 after seven-year hiatus

After a seven-year hiatus, Bangladesh’s premier talent platform, the LUX Superstar 2025, returned with a grand finale on Friday night, crowning Bidushi Bornita as the winner.

Bornita from Rajshahi claimed the top title, while Nazah Nawar Binte Nurul of Pabna secured the first runner-up position and Amina Islam of Chattogram finished as the second runner-up.

The final round was held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, in a star-studded ceremony attended by leading figures from the entertainment industry.

Actress Vidya Sinha Mim and Unilever Bangladesh CEO Ruhul Quddus Khan presented the trophy to the winner.

A total of five contestants, Amina Islam, Bidushi Bornita, Nazah Nawar Binte Nurul, Nusrat Afreen Yumna, and Tista Paul, competed in the final stage.

Launched in 2005, the LUX Superstar competition has been a key platform for discovering new talent in Bangladesh. After being discontinued in 2018, the competition returned this year with its tenth season following a long hiatus.

Organisers said Bornita is expected to appear in an upcoming film directed by Raihan Rafi. A web film featuring all winners is also planned under the direction of Shihab Shaheen.

The event, which began at 7:30 pm, was hosted by actors Mosharraf Karim and Arifin Shuvo. The evening featured performances by Jefer Rahman, Irfan Sajjad, Tawsif Mahbub, and Arsh Khan, among others.

Several prominent personalities from the entertainment industry, including Shihab Shaheen and Azmeri Haque Badhon, were present on the occasion.
