Ex-IGP Moinul appointed as Ambassador to Poland
Md Moinul Islam, the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), has been appointed as Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Poland. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding the appointment on Thursday (April 10).
Moinul Islam, who had been on post-retirement leave (PRL), has had his leave and related privileges suspended. He has now been appointed Ambassador to Poland for a two-year contract starting from April 10. The appointment is subject to the condition that he will sever all professional, business, and employment ties with any public, semi-public, private institutions, or organizations.
Other terms of the appointment will be finalised through a formal contract, as stated in the notification.
Following the student-led uprising that led to the fall of the Awami League government, Moinul Islam was appointed IGP on the night of August 6. However, on November 20, he was removed from the position and replaced with retired police officer Baharul Alam. After his removal as IGP, a notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on November 26, assigning Moinul Islam to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in preparation for his appointment as ambassador.
