Anti-Discrimination Student Movement leaders attacked in Gopalganj

Five leaders of Madaripur district unit Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have been injured in an attack in Gopalganj's Muksudpur on their way home after distributing fruits among the families of the martyrs and injured victims of July mas uprising.

Police, locals and the injured said the staff of 'Mizan Paribahan' teased the female leaders of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in front of 'Barishal Gate Chinese and Restaurant' at Tekerhat Uttarpara in Muksudpur bordering Rajoir upazila of Madaripur on Tuesday night, June 10. 

A scuffle took place between the bus workers and the students when the latter protested against the acts. Later, the bus workers and their men attacked on the students, leaving five injured.

The injured have been admitted to Madaipur Sadar Hospital and given primary treatment.

No one related to 'Mizan Paribahan' could be reached for comment.

Police, however, detained a person in this connection after seeing CCTV footages and a drive is underway to detain the remaining suspects, said Muksudpur police station's officer-in-charge, Golam Mostafa.

Masum Billah, member secretary of Madaripur unit Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, demanded the arrest of those involved in the attack.
