3 more die of dengue, 409 hospitalised in 24hrs
Three more people died from dengue in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 76 this year.
The latest fatalities were reported from the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and Rajshahi Division.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 74 new cases were reported in Barishal Division (outside city corporations), 72 in Chattogram Division (outside city corporations), 51 in Rajshahi Division (outside city corporations), 28 in Khulna Division (outside city corporations), 11 in Mymensingh Division (outside city corporations), 67 in Dhaka Division (outside city corporations), 32 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 54 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 16 in Rangpur Division (outside city corporations), and four in Sylhet Division (outside city corporations).
During this period, 409 more dengue patients were hospitalised, bringing the total number of cases to 19,529 this year. Currently, 1,230 patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals across the country.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives in Bangladesh. According to DGHS data, a total of 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries were recorded in 2023.
