Workers block road at Tejgaon protesting against factory closure

Workers of a garment factory blocked the road in Dhaka's Tejgaon on Saturday morning, August 23, protesting against the factory closure without prior notice.
They barricaded both sides of the Mohakhali-Tejgaon road at Tibet intersection around 11:00am, leaving vehicular movement suspended and causing immense suffering to commuters.
A clothing factory named 'Posh Garments Ltd.' was closed on Thursday, August 21, without prior notice, and angered by the decision, the workers blocked the road, said Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Industrial police station.
He said the workers demand the factory authorities must follow appropiate rules to close it or reopen, otherwise, they will continue their movement.
