25 additional HC judges sworn in
The 25 newly appointed additional judges of the High Court were sworn in on Tuesday (26 August). Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath at the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court.
Prior to the ceremony, recitations were conducted from the Holy Quran, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Tripitaka. The oath was formally administered by Supreme Court Registrar (Judicial) Md Moazzem Hossain.
Earlier, the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a gazette notification on Monday night appointing 25 individuals as additional judges of the High Court Division.
According to the notification, under Article 95(1) of the Constitution, the President, in consultation with the Chief Justice and in accordance with Article 98 of the Constitution, has appointed the 25 individuals as additional judges of the Supreme Court’s High Court Division for a term not exceeding two years. Their appointment will take effect from the date they take the oath.
