12 die from dengue in a day
Twelve people have died from dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, as of Sunday morning. During the same period, 740 patients were admitted to hospitals.
Of the 12 deaths, five were reported from Barishal Division, one from Chattogram Division, three from Dhaka North City Corporation, two from Dhaka South City Corporation, and one from Mymensingh Division.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released this information on Sunday (September 21).
According to the DGHS, of those hospitalised for dengue in the past 24 hours, 165 were from Barishal Division, 77 from Chattogram Division, 147 from areas of Dhaka Division outside the city corporations, 122 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 115 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 52 from Khulna Division, 22 from Mymensingh Division, 28 from Rajshahi Division, 3 from Rangpur Division, and 9 from Sylhet Division.
Since the beginning of this year, a total of 41,831 people have been admitted to hospitals with dengue, and 179 people have died from the disease. In the last 24 hours, 683 patients were discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 39,631.
For comparison, in 2024, 101,214 people were infected with dengue in the country, and 575 people died. In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, and 321,179 people were hospitalised due to the infection.
