BGB personnel deployed on Dhaka streets to maintain law and order amid rising tensions.

Fourteen platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in the capital, Dhaka, and its surrounding districts to ensure law and order and protect public safety.

BGB’s Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam confirmed the deployment on Wednesday (November 12), stating that personnel will work to maintain law and order and safeguard lives and property.

In recent days, nearly 10 buses in the capital have been set on fire, and multiple crude bomb incidents have been reported. Arrests have also been made in connection with these events.

Sources said the International Crimes Tribunal is scheduled to announce the date for delivering its verdict on November 13 in a case concerning crimes against humanity committed during last year's July–August Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, filed against Sheikh Hasina and two others. In response, tensions are reportedly high in Dhaka and across the country. The Awami League announced on its official Facebook page that it will observe a ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ programme on the day.
