3 BRTC buses set on fire in Noakhali

Miscreants set fire to three BRTC buses, used for transporting the students of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), in Noakhali in the early hours of Thursday, December 4.

Witnesses said they noticed smoke rising from inside the Sonapur BRTC Depot around 2:30 am and notified the Fire Service.

Later, two units of firefighters from Maijdee Fire Station arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control.

The fire destroyed two buses – Gulbahar and Malati – completely and damaged another partially, Md Farid Ahmed, assistant director of Noakhali Fire Service, told Jago News.

Sonapur BRTC Depot manager Md Arifur Rahman Tushar said the incident was categorically a sabotage.

Tushar said he was supposed to be transferred today, and the man who has been given the charge does not come here.

"I doubt the offense has been committed in a planned way to prevent my transfer," he added.
