Attorney General (AG) Md Asaduzzaman, on Friday, December 5, said it is “irrelevant” to debate whether BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman is a Bangladeshi voter, despite his intention to contest the national election.

“Since he has sought to run in the election, it must be assumed he is a citizen and a voter of Bangladesh,” he told reporters after attending the founding anniversary of Haji Kalyan Sangstha at the Shailkupa Government Degree College ground in Jhenaidah.

Responding to a question, the AG said the trial of the July massacre is progressing, and that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure quick justice, leaving no scope for disruption or delay.

The programme, organised by Haji Kalyan Sangstha, was presided over by its president, Alhaj Lutfor Rahman Tulu.
