Journalist Shaukat Mahmood taken into DB custody

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch took journalist Shaukat Mahmood into custody on Sunday afternoon.
A team of DB police brought him from his Malibagh residence to the agency's office, said DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
Shaukat is a former president of the National Press Club and the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), as well as a former vice chairman of the Bangladesh Ntionlist Party (BNP).
Regarding whether he has been formally arrested in any case, the police officer said, "I have no information about it."
