Winter intensifies in Panchagarh as temperature drops to 10.4°C
The intensity of winter has increased in Panchagarh as nighttime temperatures continue to fall. The Tetulia Weather Office recorded the lowest temperature of the current winter season at 10.4°C on Monday (December 8) at 9:00 am.
Over the weekend, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10.5°C on both Saturday and Sunday. However, daytime temperatures saw a slight rise, reaching 26.7°C on Monday. As on other days, the chill eased somewhat after sunrise.
In the northern region, the continuous fall in nighttime temperatures has heightened the impact of winter in recent days. From the afternoon onwards, residents experience biting cold due to northern icy winds and light to dense fog. The area remains covered in fog throughout the night, with the cold gradually easing after sunrise. Sunshine from morning to afternoon brings some relief, but the chill returns after sunset, lasting until the next morning.
The intense morning cold has increased hardships for workers heading out for their jobs. Fozlul Karim, a construction worker from Khalpara in the district town, said, “The cold starts in the afternoon and becomes severe at night. We have to go out for work early in the morning. The fog and cold are harsh before sunrise, but it eases once the sun rises.”
Jitendranath Roy, Officer-in-Charge of Tetulia Weather Observatory, said, “At 9:00 am on Monday, the lowest temperature of this winter season was recorded at 10.4°C. The daytime temperature increased slightly from 26.5°C to 26.7°C, with humidity at 84 percent. On Sunday, the lowest temperature nationwide was also recorded in Tetulia at 10.5°C. Over the next few days, both nighttime and daytime temperatures may decrease again.”
